Mark Laurence Richard Jr. was born on February 28, 1991, in South Windsor, Connecticut. Growing up in Connecticut, he developed a strong love for writing at a young age. He spent many hours in his room filling journals with thoughts, stories, and poems during his school years.
Richard attended local schools in South Windsor. He was creative and took every writing and English class available in high school to improve his skills. He first pursued a career in graphic design, studying and working towards that path; however, he grew more drawn to music as he became older.
Initially, he chose the stage name "Witty" but later changed it to Witt Lowry, using a shortened version of "Witty" and adding "Lowry" from his middle name, Laurence, making his name easier to find online.
