You probably remember Will Friedleas the lovable, quirky older brother Eric on Boy Meets World, but there's so much more to his story. He rose to fame playing Eric from 1993 to 2000, delivering a character full of humor, heart, and memorable lines. After the show ended, he shifted into voice acting and became the voices behind iconic characters like Batman (Terry McGinnis), Ron Stoppable, and Star‑Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. Over the years, he's voiced dozens of roles across animation, video games, and podcasts, showing incredible range and creativity. His journey reflects how he turned early TV success into a long, diverse, and rewarding career. Will Friedle was born on August 11, 1976, in Hartford, Connecticut, the youngest of three sons of Patricia Joan (née Leary) and Gary Allen Friedle, both lawyers. His older brothers are named Greg and Gary.
Growing up in Avon, Connecticut, he was very focused on becoming an actor. Even as a youngster, he regularly commuted to New York City from Avon to attend auditions, showing strong dedication early on.
He graduated from Avon High School in 1994. Although some sources once claimed he attended Occidental College, he later confirmed he never attended that school. Instead, he studied Latin for six years because at one point he wanted to become an archaeologist. He also at one time considered culinary school, though he never pursued it.
Will Friedle began his career by co-hosting Nickelodeon's Don't Just Sit There!from 1988 to 1991. His breakthrough came in 1993 when he landed the role of Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World, which aired until 2000. His performance as the funny but well-meaning older brother made him a household name.
After Boy Meets World, Friedle shifted his focus to voice acting due to anxiety that affected his on-camera work. He voiced Batman (Terry McGinnis) in Batman Beyond(1999–2001), and later Ron Stoppable in Disney’s hit animated series Kim Possible(2002–2007).
He continued to build his voice acting career with roles in video games like Kingdom Hearts II, Advent Rising, and Rogue Galaxy, and in animated series such as Justice League Unlimited, ThunderCats, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Beyond voice work, Friedle has hosted podcasts and web series. He co-hosted Geek & Sundry Painters Guild, Mini Primetime, and the podcast I Hear Voices. Since June 2022 he has co-hosted Pod Meets World, a rewatch podcast for Boy Meets Worldwith co-stars Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong.
Through film, television, voice acting, and podcasts, Friedle has shown great range. His shift to behind-the-mic work allowed him to keep his passion alive while managing personal challenges, making his career both diverse and enduring.
