Travis Joneswas born on October 15, 1999, in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Wilbur Cross High School in his hometown, where he played both offensive guard and defensive line for the Governors. During his senior season, he helped his team gain close to 3,000 yards, with 1,548 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. He also made 61 tackles and seven sacks, earning All-State honors and recognition on the First Team Walter Camp All Connecticut squad.
Though major college programs offered him a chance to play guard, Jones chose to stay close to home and committed to the University of Connecticut (UConn) to play football. He valued staying at a local school and wanted his family to be able to watch him play live. At UConn, Jones majored in general studies and began his college journey in 2018, focusing on football development while completing his education locally.

College Career

Travis Jones played football at the University of Connecticut (UConn) from 2018 through 2021, though UConn did not play in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over his college career, he appeared in 35 games and finished with 126 tackles, including 18 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
As a freshman in 2018, he played in all 12 games and started 10. He made 55 tackles, with 5.5 tackles for loss, and recorded 0.5 sacks. In 2019, he again played every game, made 40 tackles, and added 3.5 sacks, along with one fumble recovery.
He did not play in 2020 because UConn canceled the season due to the pandemic. In his final year, 2021, he played in 11 games and totaled 47 tackles, with 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, plus a team-high number of quarterback pressures and hurries.
Jones earned national attention when he was invited to the 2022 Senior Bowl, where he showed well against other top college players, boosting his NFL prospects. He then received an invitation to the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine after his strong Senior Bowl performance.

Professional Career

Travis Jones began his professional career when the Baltimore Ravens chose him in the third round (76th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. In his first season, he appeared in 15 games, started 3, and recorded 24 total tackles, including 9 solo stops, 1 sack, and 1 pass defended.
In 2023, he played in 17 regular‑season games, starting none, and totaled 36 tackles(14 solo) with 1.5 sacksand 2 pass breakups.
The 2024 season saw his workload increase significantly. He played in all 17 games, starting 15, and made a career-high 42 tackles(22 solo) and 1.0 sack. He also contributed 20 assisted tacklesand no forced fumbles or interceptions.
Over his first three professional seasons, Jones has appeared in 49 games, starting 18, and accumulated 102 total tackles, 42 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 3 passes defended.
Off the field, Jones has earned praise from coaches and teammates. Head coach John Harbaugh called him a potential breakout star for 2024, labeling him almost “superhuman” for his strength and consistent improvement. Veteran nose tackle Michael Pierce also spoke highly of Jones's steady growth and belief in his future impact for Baltimore’s defensive line.
