He won the Connecticut Openin 1954, shooting an opening round 6‑under‑par 65, which was a course record at Shuttle Meadow, and went on to win by seven shots at a total of 207. That same year, he reached the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Championship. In 1961, he claimed the Connecticut State Amateur Championship, joining distinguished family achievement as his sister, Grace Lenczyk Cronin, also won the women's amateur title in the same year.
Dr. Lenczyk was inducted into the Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame in 1968in recognition of his achievements as both an amateur champion and U.S. Amateur semifinalist.
He was a dentist and longtime member at Indian Hill Country Club. His golf accomplishments, leadership, and family legacy made him an important figure in Connecticut’s golf history.
