Known for his powerful build and intense presence in the ring, he made a name for himself in major promotions like WWE and TNA. His wrestling career includes memorable feuds and championship matches that kept fans watching. Beyond wrestling, he also worked as a television personality and later entered public service. Morgan's strong work ethic and larger-than-life character helped him stand out in and out of the ring.

Early Life

Matthew Thomas Morgan was born on September 10, 1976, in Fairfield, Connecticut. He went to Fairfield High School, where he played basketball and impressed coaches enough to earn a spot at Monmouth University on a full basketball scholarship.
As a freshman at Monmouth, he helped the team win the Northeast Conference and play in the 1996 NCAA Tournament even though he didn’t score any points. After a coaching change at Monmouth, he moved to Chaminade University in Hawaii. There, he continued playing basketball and studied public speaking, graduating with his degree. He also tried out for the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors after college, but neither team offered him a contract.

Professional Wrestling Career

Start in WWE and Ohio Valley Wrestling (2002–2003)
Matt Morgan started his wrestling career by joining WWE's reality show Tough Enough IIin 2002. He had to leave the show early due to an injury. Even though he left, WWE signed him and sent him to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), their development territory. He debuted in OVW on October 2, 2002, using the nickname “The Blueprint.” There, he took part in tag team and handicap matches and started building his in-ring skills.
Main Roster Debut – WWE SmackDown (2003–2004)
In late 2003, Morgan was called up to WWE’s SmackDown brand. He was chosen to be part of Team Lesnarat the Survivor Series pay-per-view event. His team included big names like Brock Lesnar, Big Show, and Nathan Jones. During the event, Morgan was eliminated by Kurt Angle. He continued to appear on SmackDown, mostly in tag team matches alongside Lesnar and others. He also participated in the 2004 Royal Rumble match.
Return to OVW and Championship Success (2004–2005)
After Brock Lesnar left WWE, Morgan was sent back to OVW to improve his wrestling skills. In April 2004, he won the OVW Heavyweight Championshipby defeating Nick Dinsmore. He held the title for almost six months before losing it to Chris Cage. Later, he changed his wrestling style and started using a mask with a new version of "The Blueprint" character. In 2005, he briefly held the OVW title again before losing it a second time.
Comeback to WWE with New Character (2005)
Morgan returned to WWE’s SmackDown in April 2005 with a new character. He played a large man who stuttered when he spoke, which was part of a storyline. He started a partnership with Carlito and helped him win a match against Big Show by using the F-5 finishing move. Their alliance ended shortly, and Morgan was released from WWE in July 2005.
Wrestling in Japan and Europe (2005–2007)
After WWE, Morgan wrestled in Japan and Europe. In Japan, he competed in promotions like New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW)and HUSTLE. He teamed with Mark Jindrak under the name “Gomora” in HUSTLE. In Europe, he wrestled in groups like Nu-Wrestling Evolution (NWE)in Italy and Rings of Europein Austria, gaining more international experience.
Joining Total Nonstop Action Wrestling – TNA (2007–2013)
Morgan signed with TNA Wrestlingin 2007. He first appeared as a backstage figure working with Jim Cornette. He later began wrestling full-time and formed a tag team with Abyssin 2008. After a feud with Abyss, Morgan started teaming with Hernandez. Together, they won the TNA World Tag Team Championshipin January 2010 at the Genesisevent.
Later that year, Morgan turned on Hernandez and claimed the titles for himself. He joined the Fortunestable led by Ric Flair. In 2011, he formed a successful tag team with Crimson. They won the TNA Tag Team Titlesagain by defeating Mexican America. Morgan also became the first Ring Ka King Heavyweight Championduring TNA’s India-based project.
Departure from TNA and Independent Circuit (2013–2014)
Morgan left TNA in July 2013 after requesting his release. He returned to wrestling on the independent scene, including for Florida Underground Wrestlingand other local promotions. In January 2014, he announced that he was stepping away from full-time wrestling to focus on family and his career outside the ring.
Brief Returns and Final Matches (2015–2019)
Morgan made a short return at Slammiversary 2015, facing Bram in a singles match. He came back again in April 2017 and teamed with Chris Adonis in Impact Wrestling, but this return was brief. After that, Morgan fully retired from professional wrestling in 2019.
