After finishing high school, he enrolled at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he studied communications and graduated in 1990. Mark McGrath became famous as the lead singer of the rock band Sugar Ray. The group gained major success in the late 1990s with hits like “Fly,” “Every Morning,” and “Someday.” Their album Flooredbrought them into the spotlight, and 14:59went triple platinum, making them one of the most popular pop-rock bands of that time.
Sugar Ray's 2001 self-titled album reached the Top 10 on the Billboard charts and featured the hit song “When It’s Over.” As the band's popularity grew, McGrath also moved into television. He worked as a co-host on the entertainment news show Extrafrom 2004 to 2008. He later hosted shows like The Pussycat Dolls Presentand Don’t Forget the Lyrics!and appeared on reality programs including The Celebrity Apprenticeand Celebrity Big Brother, where he finished in third place.
