Biography

Jackson Romangrew up in Berlin and Kensington, Connecticut, playing golf from a very young age at Shuttle Meadow Country Club. He started playing in U.S. Kids Golf events when he was around 5 or 6 and became a scratch golfer by eighth grade.
In high school at Hamden Hall Country Day School, he won the Junior Golf Hub Championship with a first-round 64 and also won the US Challenge Cup in Rhode Island. He set a tournament record at the Kingswood-Oxford Invitational by shooting 66 as a sophomore. He played on the Connecticut PGA Junior Tour and won the Jackman Memorial, Sandri Invitational, Crestview Junior Open, and the Champions TOUR Classic before continuing his success in college.
Jackson signed to play college golf at Loyola University Maryland starting in Fall 2021. As a college golfer, he earned multiple Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week awards, including after a top 25 finish at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial and a top 8 tie at the Donald Ross Collegiate.
In July 2024, as an amateur, he won the 90th Connecticut Open, becoming the first amateur in 16 years to do so. He shot a final‑round 67 to win by three strokes over the professionals. He managed this while also living with Type 1 diabetes, using an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor throughout the tournament.
Jackson qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship by shooting a bogey-free 5-under 65 in a final qualifier, earning medalist honors. His strong play continued into his senior year at Loyola with multiple top‑10 finishes and another weekly conference honor.
He homes in on a goal beyond college competition: turning professional and aiming for the PGA Tour. After graduating, he plans to work as a caddy at his home club, gather sponsors, and possibly move to Florida to pursue his pro career.
Jackson is known for his calm focus on the course, his strong work ethic, and his ability to perform well under pressure, all supported by dedicated family support, including his sister Kenna who often caddies for him.
