Eric George Lopez, known as ericdoa, was born on September 7, 2002, in Connecticut, USA. He comes from a family with Panamanian and Puerto Rican roots. As a child, his grandfather gave him a guitar, which inspired him to start making music early on.
Growing up in a small town in Connecticut, ericdoa did not find many other creative kids at school, so he spent a lot of time online. He made friends and met collaborators over places like Discord and Twitter. From around age 14, he began recording his own songs in his bedroom. He taught himself how to produce, inspired by a mix of old-school pop artists and the music he found online.
Career
Eric George Lopez began sharing music online under the name killeric, dropping his first EP DOAin 2019. He changed his stage name to ericdoamid-2019 and released his mixtape Public Targetand the full-length album COAin 2020. In 2021, he signed with Interscope Records and released memorable singles like “Fantasize,” “Back N Forth,” “Strangers,” “Sad4Whattt,” “Fool4Love,” and “Lifeline.” His track “Sad4Whattt” was featured on HBO’s EuphoriaSeason 2 soundtrack.
ericdoa often teams up with the artist Glaive. Together, they released the EP Then I’ll Be Happy, which includes songs like “Cloak n Dagger” and “Fuck This Town.” In May 2022, he released his second album, Things with Wings, and supported that album with a world tour, reaching fans across North America, Europe, and Australia.
In March 2023, ericdoa partnered with Riot Games for the song ">One" tied to the video game VALORANT. The track was introduced alongside a game trailer and debuted at the VCT LOCK//IN esports event. On January 19, 2024, he released his third studio album titled DOA. It features singles such as “Kickstand,” “Dancinwithsomebawdy,” and “Sweet Tooth,” and was followed by his headline Dead on Arrivaltour early in the year.
ericdoa’s music style blends hyperpop, emo‑rap, trap, and pop. He is known for mixing glitchy sounds, emotional lyrics, and high energy. He grew popular online thanks to his genre-blending approach and strong connections with gaming communities.
