Biography
Don Hoenigbuilt a strong reputation in Connecticut golf. He was winner of the Connecticut State Amateur Championship in 1957and then won the Connecticut Open in both 1956 and 1957, competing against both amateurs and professionals. He also claimed the title of Connecticut Section PGA Champion in 1984, and later earned multiple Senior PGA Section titlesfrom 1985 to 1989.
He was inducted into the Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame in 1981in recognition of his significant contributions and achievements in the sport.
Don also served for many years as Director of Golf at Raceway Golf Club in Thompson, Connecticut, a course originally designed by his family. He helped oversee operations and coaching at this historic venue.
He represented the United States Air Force in golf, winning both the Air Force Golf Championshipand the Armed Forces National Golf Championshipduring his service.
