Christopher Thomas Briney was born on March 24, 1998 in Hartford, Connecticut, to parents who were both actors and had met in New York City. He grew up with one sister and a supportive family that encouraged the arts.
He attended Waterbury Arts Magnet School, where he first explored theater. In 2015, he joined a five-week intensive theater program at Wesleyan University to learn more about acting. The next year, in 2016, he moved to New York City to study at Pace University in a program focused on film, TV, voice-over, and commercials. While studying at Pace, he held a job at Trader Joe’s on the Lower East Side of Manhattan to support himself. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in acting in 2020.

Career

Christopher Brineybegan acting in small short films, including Under the Covers (2018) and Want This (2020). His first major break came in 2021 when director Mary Harron cast him in the biographical film Dalíland, while he was still relatively unknown. Around the same time, he auditioned via tape for The Summer I Turned Pretty, was invited to a callback and chemistry read over Zoom, and landed the lead role of Conrad Fisher while filming Dalíland in Liverpool.
Christopher starred as Conrad Fisher in the Amazon Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty, which premiered in June 2022. His performance brought him wide recognition, and he continued the role through Seasons 2 and 3. In 2024, he appeared as Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls: The Musical, a film adaptation for Paramount. He initially declined the part because it required singing, but accepted after the singing parts were removed from the role.
He also joined other public events and award shows, presenting with his The Summer I Turned Pretty castmates at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in 2023. Despite his young age, he has been praised for his strong emotional range in acting, especially in portraying Conrad’s depth and vulnerability. Fan and critic commentary highlight his expressive performance even without dialogue.
