Biography

Betty Keanwas born on December 15, 1914, in Hartford, Connecticut. She became a well-known actress and started working in films in 1942, with early roles in Moonlight Masqueradeand Gals, Incorporated.
In the 1950s, she performed with her sister Jane as the comedy duo called the Kean Sisters. They appeared in nightclubs and on Broadway, including the 1955 musical Ankles Aweigh.
Betty also acted on TV shows. She played Amy Tucker in Leave It to Larryand appeared in shows like Naked City, The Andy Griffith Show, My World and Welcome to It, and The Love Boat. One of her final appearances was on The Facts of Lifein 1986, where she played a traveling vaudeville performer in the episode “The Lady Who Came to Dinner”. Her last movie was Dreamscapein 1984.
Betty Kean married four times. Her husbands included Roy Sedley, Frank Fay, actor Jim Backus, and Lew Parker. She had two daughters, one with Frank Fay and another with Lew Parker. She passed away from cancer on September 29, 1986, in Los Angeles.
