Muff Waders began in Holstein, Iowa, created by two friends, Taylor "Earl" Nees and Garret "Buddy" Lamp. The idea sparked in 2016, when Nees joked about having overalls that could hold a six-pack at a high school football game. He sketched the concept on a napkin, pursued a manufacturer, and finalized a prototype by September 2018, at which point Lamp joined the project.
The product is a set of tough bib overalls with a cooler pouch for cans on the chest, side pockets for bottles, a magnetic “Muff Mug” koozie, and a built-in bottle opener. They used Kickstarter and social media to raise interest, then appeared on Shark Tank Season 12 seeking $25,000 for 25% of the business. Though none of the Sharks invested, the company continued growing and reached around $500,000 in total sales. They also created a follow-up product called Muff Spenders, which are drink-holding suspenders.
