Julia rose to national fame during Season 2 of American Idol in 2003, where she finished in 10th place. She performed songs like “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Flashdance… What a Feeling,” “Where Did Our Love Go,” and “Breathe” before being eliminated from the competition.
After Idol, Julia joined the tour as a concert performer, covering songs such as Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful.” She also recorded “At Last” for the American Idol 2 Love Songs compilation. Later in 2003, she worked briefly as a judge on the Oxygen Network’s Meow TV show.
Julia released a single titled “Let It Rain” in 2003 through Somme Music, but she did not secure a record deal with any major label. Feedback on the song was mixed, resulting in no further releases.
She returned to her hometown and resumed her earlier profession as a cosmetologist. Julia occasionally performed in Connecticut venues and events, including the Razz Room in San Francisco in 2008 and hosting karaoke nights in 2009. She also took part in charity efforts like City Harvest in 2010.
