Biography

Greg Rowles was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, into a family where music was a big part of life. His musical journey began at the age of four when he received his first guitar and amplifier. He started performing at a young age with his family, which included his mother, father, brother, cousin, and aunt. By the time he turned twelve, he was playing in a band with them. Through these early years, he learned how to sing and play different instruments, which helped him build a strong foundation in music.

As his talent grew, Greg performed at Opryland USA for three years, a well-known music venue. His big break came in 1994 when he appeared on the television show Star Search. He stayed on the show for nine weeks and ended up winning the title of “Male Vocalist of the Year.” This win brought him more recognition and helped him move forward in his career. In 2000, he moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and joined The Alabama Theatre. He became one of the main performers there and remained with the theater for 22 seasons. His performances were loved by audiences, and he built a strong fan following during his time on that stage.

Greg also had the honor of performing at the Vatican in Rome after being invited by the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, who also served as the Secretary of Veterans Affairs under President George W. Bush. Along with this, he performed multiple times at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, one of the most respected stages in country music. Apart from his stage performances, Greg also worked in broadcasting. He became an award-winning broadcaster and was recognized by the National Motorsports Press Association. He co-hosted local shows like “Carolina AM” and “Not the News” on WFXB FOX TV, where he connected with audiences in a different way.

In 2020, Greg was honored with two major awards for his contributions to music and entertainment. He was inducted into the South Carolina Entertainment & Music Hall of Fame and also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Carolina Country Music Association. After spending many years at Alabama Theatre, Greg decided to take a new step in his career. Together with his wife Brandee, he began planning a new dinner theater called The Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre in North Myrtle Beach. The theater is scheduled to open in April 2024 and reflects his lifelong dream of creating a space that combines food, music, and entertainment for all ages.

Greg and Brandee have been married for over 30 years. They have three children named Courtney, Grayson, and Ashton, and they often share moments with their “grand puppies.” Besides his work on stage and on television, Greg has also served in music ministry for over 14 years as a music pastor. He believes strongly in putting “God first, family second, and everything else comes later.” This personal value has guided him both in his career and in his personal life, making him not only a talented performer but also a respected and grounded individual in his community.
