Biography

Bradford “Brad” Tilley lives in Easton, Connecticut, and played golf for the University of Virginia from 2003 to 2006. He earned All‑ACC honors as a junior in 2005.
After college, he spent about eight years playing professional golf. He gave up his pro status in 2016 to regain amateur status and return to amateur competition.
In 2017, during his first U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, Tilley shot a total of 5-under-par (136) in stroke play, earning medalist honors and becoming the top seed entering match play. Despite feeling ill with flu-like symptoms during his first match, he won in the Round of 64 and advanced to the Round of 32.
In 2019, Tilley won two major amateur events: his debut New York State Mid-Amateur Championship, setting a record with 9-under 204, and the Metropolitan Golf Association Mid-Amateur, clinching titles within days of each other.
In 2020, he ended a 15-year win drought at the Westchester Amateur Championship, defeating younger players in match play, including a final win of 2 & 1 over an up-and-coming college golfer.
Tilley had a standout year in 2022. He won four key events, the Mittelmark Invitational, the 100th Westchester Open, the 120th Met Amateur Championship, and The Farrell, earning him the MGA Jerry Courville Sr. Player of the Year Award. At Fenway Golf Club, he won the 120th Met Amateur by 6 & 5 in the final match.
He has earned at least 13 wins over four years in the Metropolitan area, showing great consistency and success in major tournaments.
